The City of Venice constructed improvements to two existing beach stormwater outfalls to pre-treat stormwater and improve water quality along City beaches. The project improvements divert stormwater flows from the upland into an on-line detention pond with overflow through the existing outfalls. Post-construction monitoring concluded “the percent removal of nutrients and other pollutants was greater than anticipated” with total nitrogen load reduction at 98% and total phosphorus load reduction at 91%.
Coastal Tech:
- provided customary preliminary, and final design services for the improvements;
- obtained FDEP CCCL and ERP permits;
- supported the City during construction for compliance with plans, specifications and permits; and
- provided for post-construction monitoring.
