In 1996, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) adopted the Lake Worth Inlet Management Study Implementation Plan which “the sediment budget…..shall be formally validated …by December 31, 2001.”
Coastal Tech:
- completed three analysis phases – from 1994 to 1998, to 1999, and to 2000;
- analyzed monitoring surveys to identify volume and shoreline changes; and
- developed an inlet sediment budget and concluded that an average annual volume of 202,000 cubic yards of sand should be bypassed to the downdrift beaches via sand dredged from the inlet channel and the sand transfer plant.
