The Student Intern will participate in coastal and civil engineering design permitting and construction tasks. The Student Intern may be assigned various office administrative duties.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • In progress towards a Bachelor’s degree in Enginering with a focus on Coastal or Ocean Engineering. Civil/ Structural or other Engineering degree may be considered if appropriately coupled with professional experience in coastal engineering
  • 0 to 3 years of relevant professional experience including internship or co-op experience. Recent or upcoming graduates are welcome to apply

  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD and MS Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate as part of a team
  • Dedication in maintaining confidentiality, credibility and professionalism
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, and lifting at least 50 pounds
  • Apply construction math skills, including quantities conversions, measurements, and equations
  • Dedication to learning and following safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to support overall site logistics and coordination

TYPICAL DUTIES:

As a Coastal Engineer Intern typical duties may include:

  1. Prepare plans, designs, calculations and cost estimates.
    2. Prepare technical specifications, engineering reports, regulatory applications and other technical documents.
    3. Prepare and distribute correspondence, presentations, reports, quotes and requests.
    4. Collaborate with other professionals to gather information for projects.
    5. Conduct field work including site inspections, surveys and construction phase engineering.
    6. Prepare and present technical content.
    7. Interact with clients and regulatory agencies.
    8. Prepare project photo documentation.
    9. Generate periodic project updates.
    10. Support the estimating process with quantity take-offs and unit cost analysis.
    11. Prepare minutes for client, project and construction meetings

Job Location: Vero Beach, FL or telecommuted from within the State of Florida, as agreed upon

Status:                     Full time or part-time  Hourly As Needed
Starting Pay:            Based on experience
Hours:                      Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
Hours will vary based upon work requirements
