The Coastal Engineer will be involved in the analysis, design, and construction of coastal and waterfront projects including beach nourishment, dune restoration, seawalls, vehicular beach access ramps, boat ramps, marinas, and fishing piers throughout Florida.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Coastal, Environmental, or Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering college or university
- Ideal candidate will have a Master’s or higher advanced degree in Coastal Engineering or a similar field
- 0-4 years of related experience
- EI certification with plans to pursue licensure as a Professional Engineer
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Proficient in use of AutoCAD and MS Office as applied to plans production and data analysis and design
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated technical and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate as part of a team
- Preferably, proficient in use of coastal modeling software, e.g. waves, sediment transport, etc.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Coastal Engineer typical duties, under the direction of senior staff, may include:
- Prepare plans, specifications, designs, calculations and cost estimates for coastal projects including beach nourishment, shoreline stabilization, coastal structures, mitigation, dredging, etc.
- Perform work plan executions, data evaluation, and report writing.
- Prepare and distribute correspondence, presentations, reports, quotes and requests.
- Collaborate with other professionals to gather information for projects.
- Conduct field work including site inspections, surveys and construction phase engineering.
- Prepare and present technical content.
- Interact with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Prepare project photo documentation.
- Generate periodic project updates.
- Support the estimating process with quantity take-offs and unit cost analysis.
- Prepare minutes for client, project and construction meetings.

Job Location: Vero Beach, FL or Melbourne, FL
Starting Pay: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
Hours will vary based upon work requirements
Must be able to push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to move up to 50 lbs. up and down stairs.
